Interview with Grant Miller for Community News
Written by: William Sergio
On February 2, 2021, Grant Miller interviewed Manny Pozo. Grant Miller is the publisher of Miami’s Community Newspaper. Not only do they have physical magazines, but they also have a digital publication where they conduct live interviews. Manny Pozo, President/Co-Founder of BioResponse Restoration, sat with Grant Miller for a 30-minute interview. The interview covered a wide range of topics, from mold remediation to marine mold removal to cat urine.
Miami’s Community Newspaper
Miami’s Community Newspapers promotes news and events in the Miami area. All over South Florida, you can find copies of Community Newspapers. Their focus is on highlighting local businesses in different areas in Miami and informing the public of political happenings. BioResponse Restoration was chosen to be highlighted on their Interview series with Grant Miller.
Behind the Scenes
Hanging out with Grant Miller at their South Miami location is a blast. Since it was so much fun, we wanted to film a behind the scenes, and we wanted to show what it was like before and after the interview. There is a lot of history in their South Miami studio. Hanging on the wall are magazine prints from decades before. In each room, there are different studios set up with different backdrops. As you see on the video, there is 2 minutes of prep but the interview can go in any direction.
COVID-19 Decontamination Services
Even though we are one of the preferred vendors for COVID-19 decontamination in South Florida, Grant did not want to discuss COVID-19. Unsurprisingly, Facebook might take the Livestream down because COVID-19 is a contentious and controversial topic. They restrict content with coronavirus. Luckily, COVID-19 decontamination is just one of many services that BioResponse Restoration offers.
Water Restoration Services
During hurricane season, we are flooded with water damage restoration calls. Even if there isn’t a hurricane, rainier days mean more work. In Florida, roof leaks cause water damage. A leaky roof needs to be addressed immediately. Some people just put a bucket on the floor and leave it like that. The problem is that water will accumulate in your ceiling and drywall. Water damage leads to mold.
Manny Pozo explains that water damage restoration is more seasonal. During the winter and dry months, BioResponse Restoration deals with more fire restoration work. Usually, water restoration work in the dry season is caused by A/C leaks. That is why it is so important to be vigilant and on top of your air conditioner.
Stay On Top of Your Air Conditioner
One of the primary causes of water damage is an A/C leak. When air conditioners leak, they can ruin drywall and carpets. Also, it can eventually lead to mold. Always take care of your A/C. Make sure you clean and take care of your coils/ducts. If you start to see signs of mold growth, clean it with bleach. If it comes back, then you should consider calling BioResponse Restoration. We offer FREE visual assessments and will honestly tell you if you need remediation or mitigation work.
Surprisingly, cat urine is one of the most difficult odors to get out of a home. Make sure to train your cats to avoid damage from cat urine. Unfortunately, the urine gets inside the drywall. Then, you have to remove the drywall to get rid of the odor.
For odors, we physically clean the walls and everything with chemicals.
Next, we use an ozone machine, which opens up the oxygen molecules.
Then, we use air scrubbers.
Lastly, we use foggers.
Sometimes we have to paint a house. In our opinion, if you move into a new home, you should paint your home. It is an effective way to decontaminate the home.
